Britax Chaperone Stroller, Red Mill

Britax Chaperone Stroller, Red Mill Review

First let me say that I LOVE the Britax carseats. LOVE'EM!!!!! Have four kids and have owned a Britax carseat in every shape and size. So imagine my excitement to try out the Britax stroller. Whooo Hooo....well not so fast. At first I was taken aback by the cowMOOflage. Not really a fan of that print, but hey, it's a Britax right so I pushed my NYC vanity aside and accepted the cow print. Hey I live across from a corn field now so it's not like I'm in a metro area. Well aesthetics aside, the stroller is sleek in it's design. It does look nice. I thought it maneuvered just OKAY. I like my Maclaren Quest Sport Stroller in Black/Scarlet better. I can say it handles better than my Graco SnugRider Infant Car Seat Stroller Frame I thought the cupholders were great, but for me not a life and death necessity. I thought it folded up well. Almost a one-handed fold. Maybe with practice and a little luck on your side you can get it with one hand. I still was not thrilled with it's compactness. I was also not happy with not being able to take the fabric off to wash this thing if necessary. I think this could be a great stroller for someone who absolutely loves Britax, loves this cowmooflage print and wants to coordinate with the Britax Chaperone Carrier, Cowmooflage. For me my top things were:
1) maneuverability-Not there for me.
2) Compactness-My Maclaren rolls circles around this one.
3) Washability-looking for a stroller I can totally take the fabric off of if the unthinkable happens, which with kids, will happen.

I didn't feel this stroller was tops in any of my top three so I will keep searching and use what I got for now.

OK, so I went with the chaperone thinking that it is a britax, and their car seats are fantastic. BOY WAS I WRONG!!! I will start from the bottom and work my way up.... Within a few WEEKS of owning it, the wheels started rusting and squeaking. I got my WD 40 and sprayed, the squeaking was gone, the rusting was not. The basket does not stay up. The whole stroller is very cumbersome, and where it was no big deal to take my son down the stairs in the carriage, with my previous stroller, here, it is really heavy, and klutzy. The way it folds, you need to lift the childs tray, and then pull the strap in the middle. The tray gets stuck, and sometimes I just dont fold it, cuz I can not fight with the stroller. The trimming is fraying, and I noticed that about 5 weeks into owning it. If u ask me, I would say STAY FAR FAR AWAY!! DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF GARBAGE. I am sure that this is a work in progress, so Britax will be working to improve their strollers but for now,, stick to the car seats,,,
(Just to qualify myself, I had a graco stroller from a travel system, that people thought was new, and I used it for both of my boys, they are 11 months apart, and it lasted great until I went to the mountains where it became moldy from the humidity.)

Great Toddler Stroller! - Wendy A. Castelli - Long Island, NY
I purchased this stroller for my 2 1/2 year old daughter because I wanted this to be the last stroller I bought for her. I wish it was the first and only stroller I bought for her! It's very stylish (Love the Cowmooflage pattern!), is comfortable for her, has a smooth ride, large storage basket underneath and great parent & child trays! It's very easy to use, too. Only 2 slight downfalls....It's a little on the heavy side, so lifting in and out of the trunk takes a bit more effort than with an umbrella stroller. I guess that's the price you pay for having a very well-built stroller (which this certainly is)! You can tell that it's a quality product. No cheap/cheesy stuff here. However, place heavier items toward the front of the storage basket, or the back bar may collapse downward (in the folding position). Overall, I would strongly recommend this stroller, especially for moms of toddlers.

Fun, Stylish and Very Usable Stroller - K. Sampanthar - Boston, MA
The Britax Chaperone Stroller (with cowmooflage) is a great little one seater stroller. I am the father of twins, but every now and again we need to have a single stroller for Dr's appointments or shopping trips. This a perfect addition to our twin strollers (Snap&Go and Bob's jogger). First off, it is very eye catching but actually not as gaudy as I first thought it would be from the photos. It was easy to put together and I love the one-handed folding mechanism. It light and easily maneuverable. It is not ideal for jogging since the ergonomics lead to hitting your shins, but it is perfect for shopping and Drs trips. The shade comes down enough (unlike others we have tried) and it has a great storage area at the bottom that is easily accessible. The 2 cup holders and compartment on the handle is easy to clip on and perfect for drinks and keys etc.

Pros:
- Eye catching without being gaudy
- Easy to put together
- Easy to push and has a great turning mechanism
- Light and has a great one handed fold away mechanism
- Conveniently accessible storage area under the chair

Cons:
- Needs some padding for the seats
- A little plastic feeling (but it does make it light)

Overall we are very happy with the Chaperone Stroller and think it is a great addition to our family of stroller.
